All packed up and ready to go
I've quit my job, given up my apartment, put my stuff in storage, and hit the rails of America. I'm armed with a monthlong Amtrak pass and way too much gear (I hope other cities have as many massage parlors as San Francisco). I'll be staying with friends mostly, and, where needed, will be using couchsurfing.com, a network of people offering couches to crash on.
Chicano activist lawyers, beats, cheeky Brits, god knows what, and hobo autobiographies
Above, my obligatory book stock-up at the incomparable Babylon Falling (http://www.babylonfalling.com). If you've never been, do yourself a favor and make the trip. Thanks, as always, to Sean. Goddamn I'm glad I decided not to rob you when you first opened.
San Jose is my first stop, where my parents have offered a free night's stay and food, as well as verbal abuse. Tomorrow, onward to San Luis Obispo.

It was a pleasure having you stay and getting to clean up after you again! I know you are going to have a great time! Miss you already!
