Arrived in San Luis Obispo, Calif. today. It's a beautiful city, though I resent it, on the grounds that the local college, Cal Poly, rejected my application in high school.
My first Amtrak trip went miraculously well. I didn't injure anyone, including myself, I wasn't arrested, and I didn't disembark in the wrong city.
And there is great news. Coke is only $1.50 in the dining car, and tastes even better when I add my own whiskey. The damn Budweiser costs $4, so I'm not sure what they expect of me.
